(Air Capital of the World)’라는 별명을 가진 미국 최대의 항공 제조업 도시로 미국에서 만드는 일반 비행기의 35%가 여기서 만들어진다고 합니다.

I am writing this letter from Wichita, Kansas, about 500 miles east of Colorado Springs. I drove seven hours on Friday to lead a revival at Wichita Global Korean Methodist Church. I will be preaching through Sunday afternoon and returning home on Monday.
Wichita is known as the “Air Capital of the World.” It is the largest aircraft manufacturing city in the United States, and I am told that 35% of all general aviation aircraft manufactured in America are made here. Cessna, a name almost synonymous with small airplanes, is based here, along with Spirit AeroSystems, a major aerospace company that manufactures fuselages for Boeing. As I learned about all this, I found myself thinking, “Wow, there is a whole world here that I knew nothing about!”
I am told that there are about 500 Koreans living in Wichita and four Korean churches. Because the Korean community is so small, it is wonderful to see how all the churches come together to support one another, treating each church's events as if they were their own. At Saturday morning's early prayer service, a pastor from a neighboring church even canceled his own church's prayer meeting so that he could join us. I was deeply grateful for that.
Wichita Global Korean Methodist Church has a history of 39 years. I was amazed and thankful to find a church with such a long history in a city with such a small Korean population. Until now, Wichita had been little more than a place on the map to me. But coming here and meeting the church members, listening to their stories of serving together faithfully, and sharing the joys of life over the past 39 years, I have been reminded once again of how wonderfully God is at work in places I know so little about. And I am so thankful!
Driving through the flat landscape of Kansas made me feel as though I were back in Chicago. As it happened, I also met a pastor here who had previously served in the Chicago area. We spent some time talking about our Chicago days, bringing back many memories. And as I talked to people, I discovered unexpected connections between people and places, connections I never knew existed. As I see God's hand at work across time and distance, I am reminded once again of how His grace reaches far beyond the limits of our own understanding.
Next weekend, we will have a Joint Revival Meeting in Colorado Springs! Eight churches in the Springs area have joined together to prepare this wonderful gathering of God's people. Next year, our church will celebrate its 45th anniversary. When you add up the histories of all eight churches, they probably amount to well over 300 years of God's faithful work! What a blessing it will be to bring all these churches together in one place to celebrate His grace!
We are blessed to have Pastor Sungchul Lee, whom God is using in wonderful ways, as our guest speaker. I pray that you will come with eager hearts, expecting the God who has been our Ebenezer, our Help in the past, to be our Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, pouring out His grace upon us anew. Please pray for these meetings and make every effort to join us!
Coming to this place, just seven hours away, and discovering such a wide and wonderful field of God's grace that I never knew existed, makes me wonder what other places of grace God has prepared for us in the days just ahead. I invite you to come and discover the beautiful places of grace that God has prepared for us. Come and experience His grace!
